Dmytro Kuleba is Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and a member of the National Defense and Security Council of Ukraine. He is one of the most respected and powerful diplomats in Ukraine and has held various important posts in his career.
Dmytro was born on April 19, 1981 in Sumy, Ukraine to his father, Ivan Dmytrovych Kuleba, and his mother, whose name has not been released. His father works as a diplomat and is a former Deputy Secretary of State. His father was also ambassador to countries like Egypt, Czech Republic, Kazakhstan and Armenia. Dmytro was heavily inspired by his father and wanted to follow the same career path. It is known that in 2003 Dmytro continued his education at the Institute of International Relations at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

Dmytro started his career as a diplomat in 2003 when he started working in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. He worked at the ministry until 2013, later leaving the post due to his disagreements with then-President Viktor Yanukovych. Kuleba then became the chairman of the UART Foundation for Cultural Diplomacy and also took part in the Euromaidan protests in 2013. In 2014, during the Russian aggression against Ukraine, he returned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Ambassador for Communications. Dymtro also advanced digital, cultural and public diplomacy at work and was instrumental in resolving the situation.
He was then appointed Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the Council of Europe. Dmytro currently works as a diplomat and holds the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. He has held the post since 2020 and is also currently a member of the National Defense and Security Council. Previously, in 2019, he held the post of Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration. In addition, he has also authored a book called The War of Reality, which was released in 2019. The book talks about modern communication, media literacy and combating disinformation.
Recently, in 2022, as Ukraine faces external pressures and aggressions from its neighbor Russia, Dmytro published a to-do list for the world in which he listed five items, including demanding more weapons, isolating Russia, financial support and humanitarian aid. When Russia started firing missiles at Ukraine’s military installations, the minister asked for help and support from other nations, the EU and the UN against Russia’s all-out invasion of Ukraine.
