Olena Zelenska, or Olena Volodymyrivna Zelenska (before marriage her name was Kiyashko) is a Ukrainian personality who is currently the First Lady of Ukraine. Despite this, she is an architect and screenwriter by profession. In December 2019, Food Magazine included Zelenska in the list of the 100 most influential Ukrainian women, where she ranked 30th.
Early life
The First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska was born on February 6, 1978 and as of 2022 is only 44 years old. Olena was born and raised in Kryvyi Rih, where she lived her life and received a degree in architecture from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Kryvyi Rih National University. She had the degree, but unfortunately could not do much in the same field. Instead, she once wrote lyrics for Kvartal 95 and eventually became a writer.
Olena Selenska’s career
On May 20, 2019, architect and professional writer Olena became the First Lady of Ukraine. In November 2019, she appeared on the cover of the December issue of the Ukrainian edition of Vogue magazine. In one of her interviews, she spoke about her first initiative, nutritional reform in Ukrainian schools.
With the help of the initiative, the First Lady of Ukraine reformed the school feeding system and started work on the menu with the help of Chef Ievgen Klopotenko from CultFood. The reform was initiated by combining a complex program and incorporating things like improving quality, food safety, providing resources to schools, food nutrition and more.
Today, the updated school menu includes at least 160 dishes, ranging from traditional Ukrainian dishes to popular dishes from the different cuisines of the world. On June 12, 2020, Olena announced that she had tested positive for the COVID-19 pandemic.
After four days, she was taken to the hospital for further observation, where she was described as “moderate” and not on mechanical ventilation. She was later discharged from the hospital on July 3, 2020. In June 2020, Olena launched an initiative to spread the Ukrainian language around the world.
Widespread Fame
She worked and introduced the Ukrainian language with the help of audio guides in the most famous places, especially in the largest museums in the world. Immediately after the development of the initiative, the Ukrainian language was developed with 11 audio guides by 2020 in the museums of places like Austria, Italy, Azerbaijan, Latvia, Turkey and Montenegro, including the two bus lines of Lithuania. In 2021 she presented an audio guide in Ukrainian for the Museums of Mount Vernon and the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco in California. Later in September 2021, Zelenska attended the Fifth Ukrainian Women’s Congress.

Personal life
Professional architect and writer Olena Zelenska was not directly known to her future husband Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The two were schoolmates, but did not know each other. Zelenskyy in one of his interviews said that he was known to Olena’s classmates, but at that time did not know her either by name or face. The couple met much later, when she began studying at the Faculty of Civil Engineering at Kryvyi Rih National University.
They met, gradually developed their relationship, got to know each other, dated for at least eight years, and later got married on September 6, 2003. After a year, in July 2004, Olena gave birth to their first child, Oleksandra. who was a daughter. Later, on January 21, 2013, Zelenska gave birth to her second child who was a son and later named Kyrylo.
