Shontel Brown is an American politician by profession, representing the United States for Ohio’s 11th congressional district. She is a prominent political member of the Democratic Party, winning her seat in the November 2, 2021 special election. Despite this, she is a member of Cuyahoga County Council, representing the 9th Circuit.
She appeared to defeat Nina Turner in the results of the May 3, 2022 Democratic 11th Circuit primary. US President Joe Biden and the Congressional Progressive Caucus both support Shontel.
The Congressional Progressive Caucus formerly endorsed Nina Turner for the Democratic primary in the 2021 special election for the 11th congressional district, but later changed its support and switched to Shontel for the 2022 Democratic primary.
Early life
Shontel Brown was born on June 24, 1975 making him 47 years old. Her mother’s name is Rikki Brown and her father’s name is Tony Brown and she is known to have grown up alongside her two siblings, Ravyon and Taylor.
Shontel attended Cuyahoga Community College, where she earned an Associate of Science degree in business administration. She is said to be working towards a bachelor of science degree at Wilberforce University, with senior year to be announced in 2022.

Shontel Brown is the founder of a marketing support company called Diversified Digital Solutions. She was elected to the Warrensville Heights City Council in 2011, where she served for three years.
Later in 2014, she was selected to present the 9th Ward on Cuyahoga County Council while defeating another competitor and councilwoman, C. Ellen Connally. It usually represents the districts including the areas of eastern Cuyahoga County – Shaker Heights, Orange and part of eastern Cleveland, Warrensville Heights and Bedford.
In 2017, she was elected Chair of the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party, and after taking office, she became the first African American personality to serve as Chair of the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party.
Shontel Brown used to support the Build Back Better bill while part of the US representative. The general election was held on November 2, 2021 and Shontel won both the Democratic primary and the general election. She later assumed the authority of her office on November 4, 2021.
Back in 2017, Brown became the first black woman to hold the position as chair of the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party. She worked tirelessly to present her responsibilities and hard work to the public. She strengthened the party, engaged voters, delivered consistent Democratic victories, and worked to prove her track record with the highest scores.
