Tiare Jennings is an American college softball player who plays for the Oklahoma Sooners. She had an impressive high school softball career and was also the state’s Gatorade player for California in 2019. She was recently named the 2021 NCAA Freshman Player of the Year.
Early life
Tiare was born in San Pedro, California, USA to her parents Maria and Ignacio Jennings. She was born into a Christian family and is ethnically mixed. Her family are Mexican immigrants and she was raised in California and is known to have two siblings named Elai and Fa’atele. Her family has a number of athletes and it is known that her cousin Keilani also played college softball in New Mexico.
Tiare has not shared much about her early life but it is known that she completed her high school education at St. Anthony’s High School. She was also part of the school’s softball team and graduated in 2020.
She was admitted to the University of Alabama, Arizona, as well as UCLA, but chose Oklahoma University. Tiare is currently a freshman at OU and is also part of the college softball team as an infielder, but her major is unknown.

She began her career in softball in high school. Tiare has always been involved with the sport as her cousins were also softball players. She joined the high school softball team and immediately began setting new records and winning streaks.
In 2017, she was named the CIF Division 6 Player of the Year and also won her All-CIF honors and first-team All-State honors in her freshman year of high school.
She also led her team to win the 2019 U18 USA Fast Pitch World Championship and that same year she maintained a .710 batting average and hit six home runs. In her senior year 2019, she was ranked #2 on the Elite 100 list by Extra Inning Softball and on the Hot100 list by Flosoftball.
She also became the 2019-20 Gatorade Softball Player of the Year for California for maintaining excellent batting average and incredible performance throughout the year. Tiare is currently part of the Sooners collegiate softball team at Oklahoma University and is currently in her freshman year.
She started the season with an impressive record and soon became one of the team’s most promising players. She recently set new records, breaking the record for most home runs in the 2020-21 season. The team is currently number one at national level and Tiara has contributed significantly to this position.
She has smashed 27 home runs in the Women’s College World Series this season and finished as the 2nd wildcard for most home runs in the country.
