Xavier Bonner career
Xavier Bonner is a research fellow at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In the lab of Ronald Swanstrom, Ph.D., his primary focus is using my experimental and computational expertise to understand the genotypic and phenotypic factors affecting macrophage tropism in HIV-1.
He is currently researching how and how tightly the HIV-1 viral protein gp120 binds to the human CD4 receptor. He produces each protein in mammalian cells, purifies them, and uses surface plasmon resonance (SPR) to determine the extent of this macromolecular interaction between gp120 and sCD4.
From February 2022 to July 2022 he worked as a Senior Fellow at KdT Ventures for six months. He was a research fellow at Morehouse College for five years. Xavier completed a four-month internship at Princeton University’s Princeton Neuroscience Institute Program in 2014.
