Rachel Becker was born on June 17, 2000, in McHenry, Illinois. Born to parents John and Ami Becker, she grew up with her siblings, Matthew, her brother, and Sarah, her sister. Rachel Becker was a four-year-old softball letter-winner at Lakes Community High School. She spent all four years of her high school playing for Bill Hammill’s Lakes community team and was named an all-conference and all-area player each year. Her club softball team, Wisconsin Lightning, was coached by Rick Koehn and Lance Platts, and she received two varsity degrees in the sport.

As a freshman, Rachel led the Boilermakers in both scoring and batting, with 48 runs and 67 hits, and she set a record for the Purdue program with 41 walks in a single season. She was second on the team for batting averages (.354) and batting averages (189) and played in 19 multiple-hit games, including three games with three or more hits.
She stole two bases each time against South Alabama on March 1 and Savannah State on March 2, and against Savannah State on March 3 she had three runs, her highest season record. In the final game of her rookie year, on May 18 against Iowa State, she went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and the first home run of her career.
As a junior, Rachel had a breakthrough season, culminating in a Purdue single-season program record and earning her first-team All-Big Ten and NFCA All-Region honors. An impressive .479 batting average, good for first place in the Big Ten, fifth in the NCAA, and fifth all-time in the Big Ten.
Rise to Fame
She finished the conference with a conference-record 68 hits against Big Ten opponents and a baseline percentage of .539. Both points set her second-all-time record at Purdue. She scored two or more goals in nine games while the Boilermakers played 17 games between April 17 and May 16.
In her final season at West Lafayette, she won the Purdue career record with 149 carries, becoming the second Boilermaker in program history to be named an NFCA All-American. Rachel finished her Boilermakers career second in batting average (.394) and doubles (48), third in walks (100) and assists (473), and fifth in slugging percentage (.542) and led the Big Ten in batting average (.429) for the second year in a row.
In 2023, she made the first-team All-Big 12 as a senior and was a top-25 finalist for USA Softball Player of the Year honors. She was named to the CSC Academic All-District team for the third straight year and made safe baseball in 49 straight games from February 10 to April 29, an OSU record.
