Rhone Talsma was born in 1991 and grew up in the southern suburb of Plainfield, Illinois. As for his education, he attended Plainfield Central High School and later enrolled at DePaul University where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Women’s and Gender Studies. He attended university from 2011 to 2015, where he majored in LGBTQ and graphic design. In 2016 he went to the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. Rhone’s career began in 2017 when he began working for the Skokie Public Library in August 2017. He was appointed Access Service Intern and held the position for four months until November 2017. His work involved maintaining, accessing and recognizing the records of graphic novels.
He later worked as a CyberNavigator at Advanced Resources from December 2015 to April 2018. It was a Chicago-based company where he was tasked with working with clients to improve their digital literacy and confidence in technology. Rhone then joined the Chicago Ridge Public Library as a multimedia librarian in May 2018. His current professional position is as a librarian at the Chicago Ridge Public Library. He has worked in the same position for the last 3 years and 9 months.
Jeopardy
He recently participated in Jeopardy! Show. He managed to go head-to-head with dozens of other contestants but had no chance of defeating Amy Schneider. But Amy Schneider had a sizable lead when she failed to answer the last question, dropping to second place after failing to come up with an answer to her $8,000 bet and the correct answer falling into the hands of none other than Rhone. Despite holding a position and working for the public libraries, Rhone Talsma is the new Jeopardy champion who set Amy Schneider’s record. Amy Schneider was the show’s highest performing contestant.
Amy is a member of the LGBTQ+ community who later identified as queer after getting married and consequently divorced her first husband. She was the only Jeopardy contestant to win the show by 40 consecutive games. She finished fourth on all regular seasons of Jeopardy. So far she has won an amount of $1.382 million. The audience’s excitement rose as Rhone Talsma performed in Final Jeopardy! found the answer and Schneider found no answer. Rhone Talsma said, “…I wasn’t expecting to face a 40 Day Champion and I was excited to maybe see someone else kill the giant…I’m still in shock.”
