Sarah Jones is an Australian-born television presenter and sports reporter. She currently works for Fox Sports, hosting Fox Cricket’s BBL coverage and Fox Footy’s AFL coverage, having completed her duties as a reporter and presenter for Fox Sports News.
Early life
Born on June 24, 1982, Sarah Jones was raised in Echuca, Victoria, by her loving and caring parents, Tony (father) and Chris (mother). She is one of her parents’ five children. The whole family had to witness an accident while driving a car. It was 1990 when the vehicle crashed, and the father, Chris, lost his life.
At the time, Sarah was the only child not in the car, and the siblings managed to escape. Sarah Jones and her grandfather, Jack Jones, have always supported the sports club. Her grandfather is a Premiership player with the Bombers and was also a tour guide at the club’s former Windy Hill headquarters. Similarly, Sarah is a supporter of the Essendon Football Club.
Sarah Jones Career
When Jones was 17, she gained hands-on experience at Seven Network, where she worked on a project during the 2000 Sydney Olympics. After studying journalism at RMIT, she joined Fox Footy Channel in 2002 as a reporter. She later became a presenter and reporter for Fox Sports News, where she focused primarily on AFL and cricket coverage. Jones also contributed to Foxtel’s coverage of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics and the London 2012 Olympics. She then worked as a reporter during Fox Sports’ coverage of the Big Bash.
Jones hosted AFL Tonight on Fox Sports News in 2016 and later worked as a frontier driver for Fox Footy’s AFL coverage. That same year, in June, she temporarily replaced Eddie McGuire as studio host of Fox’s Thursday Night coverage after McGuire made sexist comments on the radio. As a result, Jones took over hosting duties on Thursdays for the remainder of the season.
In 2018, her responsibilities grew as she co-hosted “On The Mark” with Kelli Underwood and Neroli Meadows, two female broadcasters. As a result, Jones took on additional responsibilities such as hosting Fox Footy’s game day coverage, primarily on Thursdays and Saturdays, and during the AFLW season. Additionally, she hosted the preview of Fox Footy’s Grand Final Day during her stint as AFLW presenter. Jones has also served as a champion of various awards, such as the All-Australian Awards, AFLPA MVP, and Australian Football Hall of Fame.
Jones became host and border reporter for Fox Cricket during BBL coverage in 2018 after the network reacquired the cricket rights in Australia.
